Managing Director, Unit Lead Financial Communications Unit

Rüdiger Assion is responsible for the Financial Communications unit at Edelman Smithfield. Being a proven expert in financial communications, Assion is a classically trained journalist and businessman. For ten years, he was Global Head of Group Communications at Deutsche Börse AG. Prior to that, he held leadership and consulting roles in brand communications and positioning at major global companies such as General Motors, Volkswagen and BMW.

Prior to joining Edelman, he was a member of the Executive Board of the Swiss derivatives bank Leonteq AG in Zurich, where he was responsible for communications, investor relations and internal consulting. He increased the company's market value through efficient communications. He knows the capital market as well as the derivatives industry, has worked on IPOs and corporate takeovers as well as the related regulatory processes. He also has extensive expertise in large companies and their working practices across industries.

Managing Director, Head of Financial Services

Holger Nacken is Head of Financial Services in the GER/A/CH region at Edelman Smithfield. Holding a degree in economics, he has over 20 years of communications experience. He advises banks, asset managers, insurance companies, fintechs and other financial service providers on how to build trust with their respective target groups. His clients include large international asset managers such as Nordea or Capital Group as well as digital innovation leaders such as LIQID. He is particularly specialized in CEO positioning, cross-channel communication projects and content strategies.

Before moving to the agency side, Nacken worked as an editor at Handelsblatt and WDR, among other outlets. Holger Nacken is a graduate of the Cologne School of Journalism and still finds it an exciting challenge to communicate complex financial and investment topics to the respective target group in an understandable way - especially in Germany, where trust in the financial industry is traditionally rather low.

Director, Head of Operations der Financial Communications Unit

As Head of Operations, Jörg Schüren is particularly responsible for the smooth running of client relations in the Financial Communications unit at Edelman Smithfield. With 17 years of experience in communications, he also specializes in advising insurers, asset managers, banks, payment service providers and other financial service providers. Jörg Schüren helps his clients build trust, protect their brands, and gain attention for their products.

The core competencies of the studied historian, political scientist and economist (M.A.) include media relations, content development and holistic content marketing. His experience in this field is based on ten years working as a journalist before joining Edelman. Jörg Schüren is also in demand from clients when it comes to CEO positioning, crisis communications, integrated marketing campaigns or events.
